University applications

Submit applications through IRK (online recruitment system). Most universities accept applications until July for October intake.

Visa & MOS 2.0

Apply for student visa (type D) at Polish consulate. From April 27, 2026 all residence permits via MOS 2.0 digital portal.

Student checklist

Everything you need to prepare before and after arriving in Poland.

Documents

  • Passport (valid 6+ months beyond study period)
  • Diploma + SYRENA digital certificate
  • Language certificate (B2+ English or Polish)
  • Acceptance letter from university
  • Financial proof (min. PLN 776/month)

Finance

  • Open PLN bank account on arrival
  • Apply for student transport discount (51%)
  • Register for under-26 tax exemption
  • Budget 3,000-4,500 PLN/month

Housing & Health

  • Apply for university dormitory or find shared flat
  • Register for NFZ health insurance (EUR 55.80/mo)
  • Get PESEL number at local urzad gminy
  • Register residence at voivodeship office

On Arrival

  • Complete university enrollment + get student ID (ELS)
  • Activate NFZ and get EKUZ card
  • Open bank account (mBank, ING, PKO BP)
  • Buy public transport pass with student discount
  • File MOS 2.0 residence permit (if staying 90+ days)
